Well the Cat's out of the Bag

Almost everyone already knows this and I'm the only person who really hasn't told anyone! Danny has told almost everyone on the planet! And over the weekend my mom told some of our relatives. Her excuse was "well if Danny can tell people then I can too!" I love my mom :) So I figured I guess its time to let y'all know how it went down...

A couple of weeks ago I woke up and thought to myself "hmmm, I think I might be pregnant." so I ran to the store and bought a pregnancy test. I was pretty nervous to take the test because to be perfectly honest with you i DID NOT want to be pregnant, but the tests were pretty expensive so I also thought 'I better be pregnant after putting down $20 for a measley test!' Anyways, like I said, I was REALLY nervous and didn't think I'd be able to pee on the test for a full five seconds (that's what the directions say to do). So I chugged a Mountain Dew and did my best. The result took FOREVER to show up. But I eventually got my answer... YES!

I didn't quite know what to do so I called Danny on the phone (he was at work) and told him. I just started bawling and he felt really awkward because he didn't know if I was extremely mad or if I was in shock. So he simply said "Just remember that this is what we prayed for and this is the answer that we got." So then I called my wonderful sister, Lauren, who is experienced in this stuff now. Once again I just cried the whole time. She was so excited for me though and made me feel a lot better! Then I called my mom and of course I started crying again. But my mom was also super excited for me! After talking to my husband, my mom, and my sis I started to calm down and feel like this is actually doable. I hope you all don't think I'm just a selfish brat but for some reason I've never really wanted kids. I don't know why I felt that way but I just didn't think it was for me. So this is a HUGE step for me and I'm pretty dang scared. But I have great support from my family. And I know that this is what Heavenly Father wants for us.

Anyways I'm 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and I'm extremely grateful for this. It hasn't been too fun so far: I've felt queasy all day everday except when I work out (which is a good thing I guess) and I have had to quit drinking soda which has been the hardest thing of all, my appetite is definitely messed up, and I'm starting to put on some chub. But I can honestly say I've never been happier (besides the time I was sealed to Danny). Danny has been SOOO good to me so far! One time he started rubbing my belly with just his pointer finger and I said "what are you doing?" and he said "I'm just giving our baby a back rub." He is SO excited and I know that he will make a great dad. We both know that chances for miscarriage are pretty high in the first trimester so we're not counting our chickens too soon. But we're grateful for this blessing in our life and hope that all goes well.

Tone Deaf

The other day, Danny went out and bought a cheap little electric guitar. He was way excited and when I came home from work he asked if I would help him tune it. So he played a note on the computer and then on his guitar and I'd tell him to make it higher or lower. Most of the notes were 1 1/2 to 2 full steps too high or too low. I just figured he hadn't tuned it yet so I helped him out. Later that night we were talking and he said "Before you came home from work I had tuned the guitar about four different times." and i said "what?! Are you kidding me? Did you really think it was in tune when I had gotten home?" and he said "Yeah! I thought it sounded great! and then I'd go to play a chord and think it sounded awful. I thought each note was perfect." My poor husband. He is ridiculous tone deaf.

A Beautiful Mind? Or a Beautiful Lie?

Last night Danny and I watched A Beautiful Mind. I had never seen it before so I made him go buy it so we could watch it. I cried the whole time and he laughed the whole because I was crying. Well after the movie I decided to google the real story. I do this because movies make me depressed or scared and I have to see if it really happened or if Hollywood stretched everything. It makes me feel better about myself.

WARNING: This could potentially ruin this movie forever for you. If you want to know what REALLY happened then keep reading. If you want to continue to live in a world of lies then stop here.

Movie: John Nash began seeing people in college, including his best friend Charles.

Fact: Nash never "sees" people. His delusions were strictly auditory. He had no best delusional friend like he did in the movie. By making his best friend a delusion, Hollywood is trying to kind of tear at your heart, don't ya think?

Movie: Nash just randomly had schizophrenia.

Fact: Many believe John Nash's irregularities to be due chiefly to heavy use of psychedelic drugs early in his career. Woody Harrelson has widely advocated this theory throughout his career.

Movie: He had a child with his sweet and loving wife.

Fact: He had a child with a random nurse who he abandoned once he found out she was pregnant.

Movie: His wife was loyal to him throughout his problem

Fact: She divorced him in 1970. Then she came back to him AFTER he won the Nobel Memorial Prize.

Movie: John was loyal to Alicia.

Fact: We already know he fathered a child with a nurse. He also was accused of homosexual experiences at RAND that both he and Alicia denied.

Movie: All of the other professors at Princeton gave him their pens in the pen ceremony. This is also another heart breaker because early in the movie John watches another man receive the pens and he really wants it to happen to him too.

Fact: There is no pen ceremony tradition.

Movie: He gave a beautiful acceptance speech upon receiving the Nobel Memorial Prize where he thanks his wife and says he wouldn't be here without her.

Fact: He did not give any acceptance speech because he was accused of being anti-semitic.

I hope this doesn't completely ruin the movie for you. I just find it interesting how far Hollywood strays from the truth :) Another really interesting movie to do this for is the Haunting in Connecticut!
